This Model 18 differs from our standard version in the choice of woods. The German maple used for the back and sides has a distinctive silky look found only in this species. The German spruce top displays quite a bit of bear claw figure, and produces a big, open sound. The combination of this top and back makes this a very loud guitar with good projection. The finish is a golden-brown color with a slight sunburst effect around the edge. This finish color is different from any we've used before, but we were looking for a color that would highlight the figure of the wood. While the 18-inch body makes this a rather large guitar, the body depth of 3-inches is slightly less than is usually found on guitars of this type. The slightly thinner body keep the guitar from feeling unwieldy to the player.
