The Oval Hole archtop is a guitar designed to provide a slightly different response than a traditional f-hole archtop. In an f-hole guitar, the primary vibrating area is lower bout between the soundholes. By locating the soundhole in the upper bout, the lower bout has a larger vibrating surface, giving the guitar more bottom end, more overtones, and more sustain. In short, characteristics more common to the flattop guitar than most archtops. The short scale makes the guitar very responsive, even to a light touch. This is a great guitar for playing fingerstyle or with a pick. Players who play flattop guitar often find the Oval Hole archtop to be more familiar than a traditional archtop.
