F-STYLE GOLD STANDARD MANDOLIN PROTOTYPE
This is an interpretation of the classic Gibson F-5 mandolin. Between 1982 and 1994 I built over 100 mandolins including dozens of F-5 copies. I chose to quit building the F-5 in 1994. Since then, I have often played with the idea of doing a re-design that would reflect my own design sense.

Now, I am offering a design derived from my Gold Standard model archtop guitar. Like that model, this features a 14k gold wire running from the tailpiece to the peghead, bordered by black and macassar ebony. For more information and pricing, please contact me.

Standard features:
  • Choice of: Englemann, German or red spruce soundboard
  • Choice of: German, Western, or Eastern-hard curly-maple back, sides
  • Choice of: Goldtone, violin, sunburst, or natural finish
  • Ebony/Maccasser fretboard, peghead and bridge
  • Custom tailpiece
  • Waverly tuners
